Breaking: Berks County’s 34th World War II Weekend Is Coming to a Conclusion.

One of the nation’s largest and most beloved historical reenactment events, the 34th Annual World War II Weekend in Berks County, is coming to a close today after a weekend filled with vivid living history, authentic wartime displays, and emotional tributes to veterans.

Hosted at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, Pennsylvania, the three-day event has drawn thousands of visitors from across the country. This year’s installment once again transformed the grounds into a sprawling 1940s-era military encampment and airfield, bringing to life the sights, sounds, and stories of the Second World War.

Enthusiasts and reenactors donned period uniforms and attire, portraying Allied and Axis soldiers, home front civilians, war correspondents, and entertainers from the era. Authentic military vehicles, including jeeps, tanks, and restored aircraft like the iconic B-17 Flying Fortress, were on display and took part in dramatic battle reenactments and aerial demonstrations.

Attendees also had the opportunity to interact with World War II veterans, who shared firsthand accounts of their service. With the ranks of surviving WWII veterans dwindling each year, these moments held special significance for many guests and participants.

The purpose of this weekend has always been to preserve the legacy of the Greatest Generation, said museum director Russ Strine. Every year we are honored to educate and inspire new generations about the courage, sacrifice, and unity that defined that time.

In addition to military displays, the weekend included swing-era music performances, 1940s fashion shows, and vintage memorabilia vendors, immersing guests in the culture and atmosphere of the wartime home front.

As the 34th annual event winds down, organizers are already looking ahead to 2026, promising another memorable experience. Despite the passing decades, Berks County’s World War II Weekend remains a living tribute to a pivotal chapter in world history and a powerful reminder of the enduring impact of those who served.
