Residents of Muhlenberg Township have a new reason to celebrate: popular American Chinese fast-food chain Panda Express has officially opened its doors in the township. The long-anticipated location, which broke ground earlier this year, held a soft opening over the weekend and is now fully open to the public.
Located on Fifth Street Highway, near the heart of the township’s bustling retail corridor, the new Panda Express offers residents and visitors a convenient place to enjoy favorites like Orange Chicken, Beijing Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, and freshly made Chow Mein.
Local officials and business leaders attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning, marking the restaurant’s official debut. Township Commissioner Lisa Greer called the opening a great addition to our community and noted that it brings both job opportunities and diverse dining options to the area.
“We’ve heard from many residents asking for more food variety, and Panda Express hits the mark, said Greer. It also adds energy to an already thriving commercial area.
The restaurant features a modern design, drive-thru service, and mobile ordering options, making it a convenient choice for families, students, and commuters. According to store management, the new location has hired over 30 local employees, with roles ranging from kitchen staff to customer service and management.
Customer reaction has been enthusiastic. I’ve always had to drive to Wyomissing or Lancaster to get Panda, said Muhlenberg resident Joshua Rivera. Having one right here is awesome — it’s my favorite spot for a quick, tasty meal.
The opening comes as part of Panda Express’s continued expansion across Pennsylvania and the Northeast. Founded in 1983, the chain now boasts over 2,400 locations nationwide.
The Muhlenberg Township location is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. for dine-in, takeout, and drive-thru service.
