West Lafayette, IN* — In a significant move to enhance its basketball program, Purdue University has announced a \$6.7 million renovation of Mackey Arena, aiming to redefine the standards of college basketball facilities. 

The renovation project, approved by the Purdue University Board of Trustees, focuses on modernizing the men’s and women’s basketball locker rooms, player lounges, and expanding the John Wooden Club. These upgrades are designed to provide state-of-the-art amenities for student-athletes and improve the overall fan experience.

Men’s basketball head coach Matt Painter expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming changes, stating, “Mackey Arena is already considered one of the premier environments in college basketball. These improvements will continue to ensure that Purdue Basketball and Mackey Arena remain among the nation’s elite.” ([SI][1])

The renovations are set to commence at the conclusion of the 2022-23 basketball season, with the goal of completing the project in time for the following season.
