TRAGIC NEWS: few minutes ago, Family of Four from Covenant Church Involved in Automobile Accident on Their Way to Church for a night Vigil

In a devastating incident that has shaken the local faith community, a family of four from Covenant Church in Destrehan, Louisiana, was involved in a serious automobile accident just moments ago

. The family, well-known and loved among the congregation, was reportedly on their way to attend a church vigil when tragedy struck.

According to initial reports from the Louisiana State Police, the accident occurred on River Road near the intersection with Ormond Boulevard—a route commonly traveled by church members. Witnesses say the family’s vehicle, a white SUV, was struck by another car that had lost control, possibly due to wet road conditions. The impact caused the SUV to spin off the road and collide with a utility pole.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene quickly. The parents, along with their two children—believed to be aged 10 and 6—were all injured in the crash. The father, who was driving, is in critical condition and was airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans. The mother and the children were transported by ambulance and are being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The family was en route to Covenant Church to participate in a vigil, a solemn service often held in the evening for prayer, reflection, and spiritual gathering. Tonight’s vigil was reportedly organized in remembrance of recent global tragedies and for personal breakthroughs among church members. Ironically and tragically, the event intended for comfort and peace has now become a focal point of collective grief and urgent prayer.

Members of Covenant Church are in shock. Pastor Jesse Duplantis, founder of the church, shared a message of faith and unity shortly after learning of the accident:

“Our hearts are broken. This is a family that has faithfully served and worshipped alongside us. We are calling on every member and believer to intercede in prayer for healing, for comfort, and for strength. God is still in control.”

The vigil, which was set to begin at 7:00 p.m., turned into an impromptu prayer gathering for the injured family. Churchgoers lit candles, joined hands, and lifted their voices in unified supplication for a miracle. The atmosphere was heavy with sorrow but also charged with hope.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. No other serious injuries were reported from the second vehicle involved, and it remains unclear whether charges will be filed. The stretch of road where the accident occurred is known to be dangerous during heavy rain and may have contributed to the incident.

As news of the accident spreads, community members from Destrehan and surrounding towns like St. Rose, Luling, and Kenner have reached out with offers of support, food, and prayer. The family’s condition remains closely monitored, and updates will be shared through official church channels.

Tonight, Covenant Church stands united—grieving, praying, and hoping for healing in the face of tragedy.
