Oklahoma freshman pitcher Audrey Lowry is emerging as a potential star for the Sooners, drawing comparisons to former standout Kelly Maxwell. With an impressive high school career and a strong work ethic, Lowry has all the tools to become OU’s next dominant ace in the circle.

A native of Lizton, Indiana, Lowry was a four-year letterwinner at Tri-West High School, where she posted a 0.95 ERA with 252 strikeouts over 148 innings in her junior season. She was named 2024 Miss Indiana Softball and Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year, earning national recognition as the No. 2-ranked pitcher by Extra Inning Softball. Her accolades also include being a two-time NFCA All-American and a MaxPreps High School All-American.

Head coach Patty Gasso has high expectations for Lowry, noting her quiet demeanor and crafty pitching style—traits reminiscent of Kelly Maxwell. While Maxwell developed into an elite pitcher over time, Gasso sees a similar trajectory for Lowry, who has the potential to be a cornerstone of OU’s pitching staff in the coming years.

Lowry’s dream of playing for Oklahoma dates back to seventh grade, and her dedication to reaching this level has been evident in her rapid development. Now, under Gasso’s guidance, she is in the perfect environment to refine her skills and contribute to one of the nation’s most successful softball programs.

With the Sooners aiming for another championship run, Lowry’s arrival strengthens an already formidable roster. If she continues her upward trajectory, she could soon be the next great pitcher to lead Oklahoma to glory. Fans will be eagerly watching as she begins her collegiate journey in the upcoming season.
