Ruben Amorim’s 16-word transfer statement won’t satisfy Man Utd fans after ‘really bad’ failure.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim offered little on the club’s transfer market prospects for the final 24 hours or so of the window following defeat to Crystal Palace

Ruben Amorim has distanced himself from Manchester United’s remaining work in the transfer window following the Red Devils’ defeat to Crystal Palace.

Ahead of the 2-0 loss, United presented new signings Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven, who completed moves from Lecce and Arsenal respectively over the weekend. There remains work to be done, however, with the club languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League after their 11th defeat in the division this term.

Marcus Rashford is expected to complete a move to Aston Villa after undergoing a medical on Sunday, while United attempt to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on loan. Amorim’s side have held extensive talks with Bayern and the player’s representatives to try and get a deal over the line before Monday night’s deadline.

United’s head coach is only placing his focus on on-the-pitch matters for now however, and leaving transfer business in the hands of the likes of chief executive Omar Berrada and technical director Jason Wilcox. Amorim offered little when asked about transfer prospects at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The 40-year-old coach admitted that the result against Crystal Palace was a disappointing one, though he found hope in the performance against the Eagles. United went goalless after starting the game without a recognised striker, as Jean-Philippe Mateta scored a brace for the visitors.
