Longhorns get good news with an injured starter getting back on the practice field for Peach Bowl…
The Texas Longhorns have received encouraging news ahead of their College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup against the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Peach Bowl. Several key players who were previously sidelined due to injuries have returned to practice, bolstering the team’s prospects.
Junior wide receiver Isaiah Bond, who missed the first-round CFP win over Clemson with an ankle injury, was a full participant in recent practices. Bond originally sustained the injury in the Red River Showdown in October and re-aggravated it during the SEC Championship game. His return adds a significant boost to the Longhorns’ receiving corps.
Additionally, center Jake Majors and offensive tackle Cam Williams are expected to play against Arizona State. Head coach Steve Sarkisian noted that Williams’ situation was “not as serious as we thought,” following a precautionary MRI. The return of these offensive linemen is crucial for maintaining the integrity of Texas’ offensive front.
Backup offensive lineman Trevor Goosby has also been highlighted for his commendable performance in the absence of starters. Goosby stepped in during games against Texas A&M and Clemson, holding his own against formidable defensive opponents. His readiness provides additional depth to the offensive line.
These developments come as the Longhorns prepare to face Arizona State in the Peach Bowl on January 1, 2025. The return of key starters is expected to enhance Texas’ performance as they aim to advance further in the College Football Playoff.
