Colts QB Anthony Richardson (back/foot) has been downgraded to out, Joe Flacco will start Week 17 vs. Giants…

Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson has been officially downgraded to out for Week 17 due to lingering back and foot injuries. The promising young signal-caller had been listed as questionable throughout the week, but his absence was confirmed following further evaluation. Richardson’s rookie season has been plagued by injuries, limiting his development and playing time as the Colts continue to rebuild under head coach Shane Steichen.

In his place, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco will start against the New York Giants. Signed earlier this season as a depth option, Flacco brings a wealth of experience, including a Super Bowl MVP title, to the Colts’ offense. Despite his limited mobility, Flacco’s arm strength and knowledge of NFL defenses could provide stability for Indianapolis in a pivotal late-season matchup.

The Colts are still technically in contention for a playoff spot, and a win against the Giants could keep their hopes alive. However, they will need to rely heavily on their ground game, led by Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss, as well as their stout defense to compensate for the absence of Richardson. Meanwhile, the Giants, also fighting for a playoff berth, will look to capitalize on the Colts’ quarterback situation.
