A significant $450 million deal between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees has yet to materialize, but both teams are making notable offseason moves to reshape their rosters. The Yankees recently missed out on signing superstar Juan Soto, who joined the Mets on a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million contract. The Yankees had offered Soto a competitive 16-year, $760 million deal, but the Mets prevailed with additional incentives, including a $75 million signing bonus.
In response, the Yankees are turning their attention to Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander. Santander had a standout 2024 season with 44 home runs, making him an attractive target for the Yankees. Reports suggest Santander could secure a five-year deal worth approximately $100 million, as the Yankees aim to bolster their lineup following Soto’s departure.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are focused on strengthening their roster. They recently signed outfielder Tyler O’Neill to a three-year, $49.5 million contract and added former Yankees catcher Gary Sánchez on a one-year, $8.5 million deal. These acquisitions align with the Orioles’ strategy to maintain competitiveness in the American League.
