WNBA players Cameron Brink, Angel Reese, and Caitlin Clark are taking a vacation from basketball to enjoy their offseason. Clark led the Indiana Fever to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 during her Rookie of the Year campaign, although they were defeated 0–2 by the Connecticut Sun in the opening round. Unfortunately, injuries ended the seasons of the other two stars: Brink had an ACL injury, while Angel Reese suffered a wrist injury.

Nevertheless, the rookie for the Los Angeles Sparks has cause for celebration this offseason thanks to her engagement to her longtime partner Ben Felter. Clark and Reese congratulated Brink on reaching a new milestone when she revealed her engagement on Instagram.

The No. 2 overall draft pick for the Los Angeles Sparks played only 15 games before an ACL tear sidelined her for the whole season. Nevertheless, during her few games, Brink showed glimpses of the interior defense that earned her the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award while she was a Stanford student. Some fans even likened her shot-blocking prowess to that of Los Angeles Lakers defensive stalwart Anthony Davis early in the season. Though it’s a lofty comparison, Brink possesses both the skill and the physical attributes to hold down the middle for her team.

Furthermore, Rickea Jackson, the fourth overall choice of the Sparks, has ample opportunity to maneuver offensively thanks to Brink’s presence in the interior. A table-setter who can set up Jackson and Dearica Hamby for baskets and dish entry passes or lobs to Cameron Brink in the paint is what the Sparks appear to need.

The Sparks have the best chance of any team in the WNBA to select first overall in the following season’s draft, having finished last in 2024. The playmaking abilities of UCONN guard Paige Bueckers, who is expected to be selected, should fit the Sparks extremely well.
