FOX Carolina’s CLEMSON, S.C. This coming weekend, the Clemson Tigers will play their second game against Stanford Cardinal in school history and their first against an ACC team. The game will begin at Memorial Stadium at 7:00 p.m. Clemson recently defeated NC State, 59-35, in yet another commanding victory. Cade Klubnik, the junior quarterback, has led the Tigers’ offense to touchdowns on 15 of his last 17 drives.

Two fumbles in the first quarter and a pick-six in the third quarter were forced by Clemson’s defense. For the second week in a row, Stanford is back on the East Coast. The Cardinals recently defeated Syracuse 26–24 on the road to record their first-ever ACC victory. On Saturday, Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney’s team might make more Memorial Stadium history as they attempt to break ACC records. With a 172-44 career head coaching record, he is just one victory away from breaking Boddy Bowden’s conference record for most wins in charge of an ACC program.

The largest change to college football in 2024 is the College Football Playoff’s growth to a 12-team, single-elimination competition. We felt it would be acceptable to provide our fans with an overview of the playoff process, including who selects the teams and Clemson’s past performance in the competition. HOW THE CFP WORKS: The top eight teams in the rankings, along with the four power-conference champions, make up the 12 participating teams. A bid is assured to the top-ranked non-power-conference club. • A thirteen-person selection committee still votes on the teams’ rankings. • The top four

Conference winners get a first-round bye and are seeded 1-4. The top-ranked non-power conference winner is seeded accordingly, or if it finishes outside the top 12, at No. 12. Starting at No. 5, non-conference winners who place in the top four are seeded. The seedings (1–12) may not match the final ranking as a result. An illustration of this would have occurred in 2022, when Clemson finished as the ACC champion but was ranked seventh in the final CFP rankings following the conference final games. According to the criteria this year, Clemson would have started that season as the third seed in the CFP.
