Heartbreaking: Tony Stewart American race car driver Just Passed Away at The Aged of 53…see..more.. Tony Stewart once delivered one of the most iconic post-race interviews in NASCAR’s history. It was following the conclusion of the 2012 Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 race, and one could say that the statements from Mr. “Smoke” were one hundred percent sarcasm.
It was October 2012 at Talladega when Stewart, one of the many drivers who faced wrecks at the track, climbed up from the car and delivered a straight-faced interview. It has been almost 12 years since that question and answer session, but NASCAR fans continue to hail the former NASCAR driver for his answer to this day.
“I had a blast. It would have been a lot more fun if I could have gotten caught up in one more wreck. If I would have done that, it would have been perfect. I’m just sorry we couldn’t crash more cars today. We didn’t fill the quota for Talladega and NASCAR,” Stewart said.
“Honestly, if we haven’t crashed at least 50% of the field by the end of the race, we need to extend the race until we crash at least 50% of the cars. It’s not fair to these fans to not see any more wrecks than that, any more torn-up cars. I mean, we still had over half the cars running at the end, and it shouldn’t be that way.”
The 2012 Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 saw over 25 cars face a wreck in the ultimate lap of the 500-mile race. It all started when Casey Mears pushed Michael Waltrip from behind at Turn four and moved inside of Stewart. As the #14 driver tried to block, he turned sideways and spun into the pack.Besides Tony Stewart, Waltrip and Mears, Kasey Kahne, Clint Bower, Paul Menards, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Bobby Labonte, Terry Labonte, Jimmie Johnson, Eric Almirola, Save Blaney, Regan Smith, Brad Keselowski, David Ragan, Marcos Ambrose, Martin Truex Jr., David Gilliland, Kyle Busch, Sam Hornish Jr., Jeff Burton, Greg Biffle, Travis Kvapil, and Ryan Newman were all involved.

Chase Briscoe, the only driver of the Stewart-Haas Racing qualified in the playoffs after his Cook Out Southern 500 victory at Darlington. As he started his race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, his day came to an end just before Stage 1 when he collided with Kyle Larson.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver lost control of his Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and came directly in front of Briscoe.This wrapped up Tony Stewart’s final approach in NASCAR’s final stage as the former driver has decided to withdraw from the sport. He is the co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing and earlier this year, he decided to part ways with Gene Haas and dissolve his team.
