DONE DEAL: Aston Villa Secure the Signing of Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus
Aston Villa have officially completed the signing of Argentine midfielder Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus, marking another significant step in Unai Emery’s summer rebuild. The 23-year-old has penned a long-term contract at Villa Park, with the fee reported to be around £15 million, including performance-based add-ons.
Barrenechea arrives in Birmingham after a strong season on loan at Frosinone in Serie A, where he impressed with his tactical awareness, physicality, and composure on the ball. Known for his ability to dictate play from deep and break up opposition attacks, the young midfielder is seen as a direct reinforcement for Villa’s central midfield ahead of a busy season that includes domestic and European commitments.
Villa’s recruitment team, led by Monchi, had been tracking Barrenechea for several months. Talks with Juventus accelerated last week, and personal terms were swiftly agreed. The player completed his medical on Wednesday and was unveiled today as the club’s latest signing, joining fellow summer arrivals Samuel Iling-Junior and Ross Barkley.
Speaking after his unveiling, Barrenechea said: “I’m proud to join such a historic club. Aston Villa are building something special, and I want to be part of that journey. Playing in the Premier League is a dream, and I will give everything to help the team succeed.”
Manager Unai Emery welcomed the signing, praising Barrenechea’s potential and versatility: “Enzo is a player who fits our philosophy. He is young but has already gained valuable experience in a top league. His quality and mentality will strengthen our squad.”
Villa fans will be eager to see Barrenechea in action during the final pre-season fixtures, as excitement continues to build ahead of what promises to be a thrilling 2025/26 campaign for the Midlands club.
