The Dallas Cowboys cannot find a calm outlook in the offseason and they have several players on pause due to contract negotiations and one of them is their star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who will not be present in training camp, as he was absent in previous workouts.
Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy spoke to the media back before minicamp, where he confirmed that Lamb would not be with the rest of the team during that stage of the offseason, following the same line as April as well and now it is uncertain when will he show up just over a month away from preseason.
The news of Lamb’s absence comes a after the million-dollar renewal of Justin Jefferson with the Minnesota Vikings, who became the highest-paid receiver in the league with a four-year, $140 million contract and then the lucrative deal that Jaylen Waddle got with the Miami Dolphins, which was 3-year $52.5 million agreement.
Things are not looking good in Dallas
This situation could further complicate negotiations between the Cowboys and CeeDee Lamb, since the receiver aims to be the highest paid in the NFL, which would make an agreement take longer, especially when he is not the only player waiting for a contract.
But this situation will unfold to other players that the Cowboys have to extend as soon as possible. It is not only CeeDee. The most important is Dak Prescott, who is still in negotiations to stay with the franchise after a second drama situation with the front office for him.
In addition to Lamb and Prescott, there is the case of Micah Parsons. He is also looking for a long-term lucrative deal that would make him one of the highest paid defensive players in the league but everything looks very far from happening in the upcoming weeks.
