Yankees next hitting coach, target at tigers…

The New York Yankees have appointed James Rowson as their new hitting coach, succeeding Sean Casey. A native of Mount Vernon, New York, Rowson brings over two decades of professional coaching experience, including roles with the Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins, Miami Marlins, and Detroit Tigers. He began his coaching career with the Yankees as a minor league hitting coordinator and later became the Cubs’ hitting coach in 2012.

Rowson is best known for his tenure with the Minnesota Twins from 2017 to 2019, where he helped transform their offense into one of the most potent in the league. During that period, the Twins ranked fourth in runs scored and fifth in batting average. He subsequently joined the Marlins as their bench coach before spending the 2023 season as the Tigers’ assistant hitting coach.

The Yankees hope Rowson’s expertise and track record of developing successful hitters will help rejuvenate their offense after a disappointing 2023 season. His familiarity with the organization and ability to connect with players make him an ideal candidate to lead the Yankees’ batting unit. With Rowson at the helm, the Yankees aim to improve their performance at the plate and contend for the championship in 2024.
