The bronze medallist in the 100 meters at the Olympics, Melissa Jefferson, has talked about the critical role that Twanisha “Tee Tee” Terry and Sha’Carri Richardson, her teammates on Star Track, played in helping her become one of the world’s best sprinters. Jefferson’s season ended on a positive one as she looked back on her journey and the network of support that had enabled her to achieve after an unforgettable summer spent in Paris. A vital member of the gold-winning Team USA 4x100m relay team, Jefferson also competed with Terry, Richardson, and Gabby Thomas.
Her results have improved significantly after joining the Dennis Mitchell-led Star Athletics team, and this has led to Olympic victory. Jefferson notably highlighted her friendship with Terry, characterizing her as not only a best friend but a mentor. Jefferson told the City of Miami Government, “Tee Tee is not only one of my closest friends, but she’s also my big sister,” highlighting the significance of their bond. “She played a huge part in me joining Star Athletics, so I would definitely say it is a joy.”
Despite a challenging start to her 2023 season, Jefferson turned things around under Mitchell’s guidance, breaking the elusive 11-second barrier in the 100m seven times in the following year.
She finished her season with a personal best of 10.92 seconds to claim bronze at the Olympics and also ran the leadoff leg for Team USA’s victorious 4x100m relay squad…
