John Power, a 16-time NHRA Entertaining Vehicle title holder, has been moved from neuro-escalated care to intense neuro care following an extreme accident, as indicated by the most recent update from NHRA. The dramatic engine explosion at speeds close to 300 mph caused Force’s vehicle to crash into a concrete guard wall at the Virginia Nationals about two weeks ago. During the terrible incident, the renowned racer suffered a traumatic brain injury, a fractured sternum, and a right wrist injury. Force was quickly carried to an emergency clinic where he has been under fastidious clinical management. At first positioned in an injury ICU, his condition required a stretch in a neurological ICU because of the seriousness of his wounds. Even though it has been slow, his progress has been marked by significant milestones. He has been responding to commands, having basic conversations, and walking with assistance, all of which indicate that his recovery is moving in the right direction. However, there are obstacles along this path to recovery. Force continues to struggle with cognitive and behavioral signs of severe TBI, such as extreme agitation and confusion.
